At 800 Meta UAE, we specialize in high-quality automotive repairs, and we recently had the privilege of working on a Lexus NX that was experiencing various types of leaks. Whether it’s an oil leak, coolant leak, or a problem with the fuel system, leaks can compromise the safety and performance of your vehicle. It’s essential to address leaks as soon as they’re noticed to prevent further damage to your engine, transmission, or other critical components.

Issues Identified:

  1. Oil Leak:
    • Problem: The owner noticed oil spots on the driveway, and the engine oil level was dropping faster than usual.
    • Cause: Oil leaks can happen due to a variety of reasons, including worn gaskets, oil seals, or a loose oil pan drain plug. In the case of this Lexus NX, the most likely culprits were the valve cover gasket and the oil pan gasket.
    • Solution:
      • After raising the vehicle and inspecting the engine, we found that the valve cover gasket had become brittle and was allowing oil to leak onto the engine block.
      • We also discovered that the oil pan gasket was slightly worn, leading to a slow oil leak.
      • Both the valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket were replaced with high-quality OEM parts to stop the leaks and prevent further oil loss.
      • We cleaned the engine thoroughly to remove any excess oil and ensured that no further leaks were present after reassembling the engine.
  2. Coolant Leak:
    • Problem: The engine temperature gauge was fluctuating, and there were signs of coolant pooling underneath the vehicle after it had been parked.
    • Cause: Coolant leaks are often caused by a faulty radiator, cracked hoses, a damaged water pump, or a malfunctioning thermostat housing.
    • Solution:
      • We conducted a pressure test on the cooling system and discovered a crack in the radiator that was causing coolant to leak out.
      • Additionally, the upper radiator hose was slightly worn and had developed a small crack that allowed coolant to escape under pressure.
      • We replaced the radiator and the radiator hose to stop the coolant leak. We also flushed the entire cooling system, replaced the coolant, and inspected the water pump and thermostat housing to ensure no further issues.
      • The coolant system was pressurized again to check for any other leaks, and everything was confirmed to be in perfect working order.
  3. Fuel Leak:
    • Problem: A noticeable fuel odor was present around the rear of the vehicle, especially after refueling. This could be dangerous if left unaddressed.
    • Cause: Fuel leaks are commonly caused by damaged fuel lines, a faulty fuel tank, or a worn fuel pump seal.
    • Solution:
      • After carefully inspecting the fuel system, we identified that a small crack had developed in one of the fuel lines near the rear axle, causing a slow but steady fuel leak.
      • We also checked the fuel tank and fuel pump seal for any damage but found no issues there.
      • We replaced the damaged fuel line with a high-quality, durable replacement part and conducted multiple tests to ensure there were no further fuel leaks.
      • The fuel system was thoroughly inspected for safety, and the vehicle was cleared for use.
  4. Transmission Fluid Leak:
    • Problem: The owner noticed a reddish-brown stain on the ground after parking, which indicated a transmission fluid leak.
    • Cause: Transmission fluid leaks are often due to worn seals, gaskets, or pan bolts. Over time, the transmission pan gasket can wear out and cause fluid to drip.
    • Solution:
      • We performed a detailed inspection of the transmission system and found that the transmission pan gasket was leaking.
      • We replaced the worn transmission pan gasket with an OEM part and also inspected the pan bolts to ensure that they were properly tightened.
      • We topped up the transmission fluid to the correct level, and after the repair, the leak was completely resolved.
  5. Power Steering Fluid Leak:
    • Problem: The owner reported difficulty turning the steering wheel, especially at low speeds, accompanied by a whining noise and a noticeable drop in power steering fluid.
    • Cause: Power steering fluid leaks can happen due to worn hoses, a leaking power steering pump, or a damaged steering rack seal.
    • Solution:
      • Upon inspection, we identified that one of the power steering hoses had a small crack, which was allowing fluid to leak out under pressure.
      • We replaced the damaged hose with a new high-quality part and also checked the power steering pump and steering rack for any damage, finding them to be in good condition.
      • The power steering fluid was topped up, and we performed a full steering system check to ensure smooth operation.
